The Climate Action Fund – Our Shared Future is a funding initiative aimed at supporting bold partnership projects that engage communities in climate action and lead to lasting change.
The fund is looking for partnerships that can be local or regional, based in one of the UK countries or UK-wide, and built around a shared theme or identity, not just a place. These partnerships can be new or already established. This fund is part of a commitment to help communities become environmentally sustainable.
The funding available ranges from a minimum of £500,000, with most projects funded between £1 million and £1.5 million, and typically run for 3 to 5 years.
To be eligible, applicants must apply as a partnership; single organisations are not eligible for funding. The fund seeks projects that either influence communities at a regional, national, or UK level by linking with bigger campaigns or projects that encourage people to take climate action, or help communities influence the decisions that affect them. Alternatively, projects that connect climate action to everyday life by using people’s daily activities or interests to help them take action and create long-lasting change are also sought.
Applications are encouraged from partnerships that are not led by climate/environment-focused organisations. The fund aims to support projects that engage people who are new to climate action or who face poverty, disadvantage, or discrimination. It also seeks projects that start with another interest or activity and use it as a way to engage people in climate action.
