The Community Food Relief Program – Coordination Grants provide funding to support collaborative food relief projects across Victoria. These grants aim to improve the efficiency and reach of food supply and distribution systems throughout the state.
Funded projects are expected to strengthen long-term partnerships among major food relief providers, reduce duplication, and improve the overall system. They also aim to increase access to healthy and culturally appropriate food for communities currently facing food insecurity. The program supports the development of sustainable and cost-effective models that fill service gaps and improve food quality and variety.
Grants range from $150,000 to $300,000 and must benefit Victorians by focusing on strengthening the state’s food security infrastructure. Funded activities may include upgrading shared facilities like commercial kitchens or food storage, sourcing nutritious and culturally suitable food, and improving packaging.
Other eligible activities include building formal partnerships, undertaking strategic planning, and developing training programs for staff and volunteers. Costs related to program delivery—such as transport, logistics, coordination, and volunteer reimbursements—are also covered if they support collaborative and efficient delivery.
Eligible applicants must be large-scale food relief distribution organisations with existing donor networks, strong logistics capabilities, and formal systems for supporting charity partners. Organisations must have a current Australian Business Number (ABN) and be either a registered charity, an incorporated not-for-profit, an Aboriginal entity, or a food relief-focused social enterprise.
Entities not eligible include unincorporated groups, private companies, individuals, charitable trusts, and local government bodies.
