Deadline: 08-Sep-2025
The City of Greater Geelong is inviting applications for its Creative Commissions Grants program, aimed at supporting established professional artists and creatives to deliver large-scale projects within the city. The program seeks to inspire high-quality works that challenge traditional artistic boundaries while boosting local engagement and showcasing community stories.
Grants are designed to increase public interest in locally developed art, build the reputation of local creatives, encourage collaboration, and foster partnerships that strengthen the city’s cultural and economic ecosystem. Applicants can request up to $20,000, with a total funding pool of $80,000 available.
Funding is open to projects within the City of Greater Geelong’s municipal boundaries, including expansions or innovative reimaginings of existing works. Eligible projects may include immersive installations, cross-industry collaborations, experimental art in unique spaces, technology-driven works using AI, VR, or AR, and storytelling initiatives that deepen community ties to local history and culture.
Expenses covered can include venue hire, artist fees, materials, production costs, equipment, accessibility measures, and project documentation. Applicants must be incorporated not-for-profits, unincorporated groups with an auspice, registered charities, businesses, or sole traders with an ABN.
Ineligible applicants include schools, individuals without an ABN, those with outstanding grant acquittals or previous non-compliance, and entities facing insolvency, bankruptcy, or legal disputes with the City of Greater Geelong.
