Deadline: 15-Sep-2025
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria is inviting local non-political, non-governmental organizations across southern Africa to submit proposals for its Small-Scale Development Projects for 2025.
This funding initiative aims to support modest yet impactful community-led developments aligned with each country’s national priorities, particularly emphasizing skills and community development or job creation. The grant offers substantial support, with funding available between 200,000 and 500,000 Czech koruna, and applicants are encouraged to co-finance portions of their projects if feasible.
Eligible countries include Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Lesotho, Namibia, and South Africa. Organizations must have legal status in the country of implementation and be capable of operating under Czech legal jurisdiction. Projects should be designed with sustainability in mind, be cost-effective, and demonstrate significant local relevance. Any funding awarded must avoid covering administrative overheads, and project expenses for salaries, travel, accommodations, insurance, and similar costs cannot exceed a quarter of the total budget.
Projects can only begin upon signing a formal contract with the embassy and must be fully completed, including financial reporting, by mid-October 2025. Successful projects must visibly acknowledge Czech development support, with physical assets marked by the “Czech Aid” logo and intangible outputs explicitly noting Czech funding. All proposals should be submitted in English and accompanied by required documentation such as legal status verification, identification of the project lead, and references from similar initiatives. Submission deadline is mid-September 2024, and selected applicants will enter into formal agreements with the embassy in early 2025.
This funding opportunity presents a unique chance for local organizations to deliver tangible development outcomes within their communities. With focused support, clear expectations, and a framework designed for impact and sustainability, the initiative helps ensure that small-scale projects can foster real change, build local capacity, and contribute to broader development goals across the region.
