Deadline: 02-Oct-2025
The Eastern Cape Department of Social Development has opened its call for applications, inviting non-profit organisations (NPOs) and social cooperatives to apply for funding opportunities for the 2026/27 financial year.
This initiative reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to empowering communities and strengthening livelihoods across the province.
The funding opportunity focuses on projects that can make a tangible difference in local communities. Priority will be given to proposals in food production, including baking initiatives, soup kitchens, and gardening projects, which directly address issues of food security and nutrition. Support is also extended to household farming activities such as crop and vegetable production, poultry farming, fish farming, and small livestock rearing, ensuring families can sustain themselves and generate income.
In addition, the program highlights the importance of women and youth development, with a focus on creative and innovative industries. Areas of interest include arts and crafts, information and communication technology (ICT), clothing production, as well as waste and environmental management. These projects are seen as key pathways to building skills, creating jobs, and promoting sustainable community development.
To support applicants, business plan forms and detailed specifications of services in these priority areas are available at the local service offices of the Eastern Cape Department of Social Development in all districts and the two metros. Interested organisations are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to present proposals that align with the department’s vision of social and economic upliftment.
This call represents an important step in fostering resilience and opportunity for communities throughout the Eastern Cape, with a clear focus on sustainability, inclusion, and development.
