Deadline: 31-Oct-2025
BK Foundation has announced a Call for Proposals aimed at strengthening environmental sustainability and resilience in Rwandan communities through impactful tree planting and carbon footprint reduction initiatives.
The focus of this opportunity is to plant 25,000 to 50,000 trees within four months and monitor them over two years, while strengthening community resilience through engagement, capacity building, and innovative, locally driven solutions for sustainable environmental stewardship. The scope of activities includes site selection, species identification, planting, nurturing, monitoring, and community mobilization with climate resilience education.
Funding terms specify a maximum allocation of RWF 25,000,000 per organization, disbursed in tranches linked to agreed milestones, with an encouragement for co-financing and innovative approaches to enhance program impact. Two organizations will be selected for partnership under this initiative.
Through this program, BK Foundation aims to contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action) by addressing deforestation, land degradation, and climate vulnerability. The Foundation’s long-term Tree Planting and Monitoring Program is designed to sustain at least 50,000 trees annually, focusing on survival, growth, and measurable environmental outcomes. The initiative also seeks to strengthen ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation, and local participation in climate resilience.
Eligible applicants include registered NGOs and social enterprises in Rwanda with at least three years of experience in afforestation or reforestation, and a proven track record in technical implementation and monitoring. Organizations must demonstrate sound governance, financial management, and risk control, as well as established community networks, particularly in priority degraded areas. Collaboration with BK Foundation, government institutions, and local communities is essential.
Applications must include mandatory documentation such as registration certificates, audited accounts, organizational profiles, RRA and RSSB clearances, and references. Unregistered entities, incomplete applications, or those with unresolved legal or ethical issues will not be considered.
