Deadline: 30-Sep-2025
The Kent County Council is inviting community-led groups and organisations to apply for its Community Transport Grant, designed to support the creation or enhancement of local transport schemes across Kent.
This year’s grants focus exclusively on capital expenditure, meaning funds can be used to purchase assets such as vehicles, computer systems, ticket machines, or parking infrastructure. While staffing costs are typically excluded as revenue items, a small portion of the funding may cover initial setup expenses if accompanied by a credible sustainability plan for long-term funding.
Eligible applicants include community groups, parish and town councils, or transport providers partnering with community-led organisations. Applications must demonstrate they address an identified local transport need, do not duplicate existing services, and ensure full accessibility for all users, including individuals with disabilities. Proposals must also include a delivery plan for implementation in 2026, evidence of match funding such as volunteer contributions, and a clear strategy for how the scheme will sustain itself after grant funding ends.
Applicants will receive confirmation of funding decisions by the end of November, with grant payments made by January 2026.
The Community Transport Grant represents an important opportunity to enhance local mobility, especially in areas underserved by public transport. Whether setting up a new minibus service or upgrading equipment to support community needs, this funding can help bring accessible, reliable transportation within reach for thousands across Kent.
