Deadline: 18-Aug-2025
The Live Here Love Here Small Grants Scheme is designed to promote civic pride and improve the environmental quality of shared spaces within local communities. It encourages community-led efforts to care for public areas and boost well-being through volunteer-driven projects.
This initiative is a collaborative effort between local councils, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Belfast Harbour, and Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful. It supports practical actions that positively impact people, wildlife, and the local environment.
The scheme provides funding to projects that build civic pride, enhance environmental management, improve public health through better public spaces, and reduce litter and dog fouling. It also supports actions aimed at helping people with limited social contact and improving coastal or inland waterway environments.
Grants range from £500 to £3,000, with a cap of £1,000 for non-constituted groups. Eligible projects might include revitalising green spaces, transforming underused areas into community hubs, or promoting biodiversity through environmentally focused actions.
Applications are open to a wide range of local organisations, including volunteer groups, youth groups, sports clubs, churches, schools, and not-for-profit organisations. Previous grantees can also apply, and collaboration between groups is encouraged. However, only one application per group is allowed.
The scheme will not fund project running costs like salaries or insurance, event catering, volunteer expenses, political or religious activities, professional labour exceeding 30% of the grant, or items for personal use. It also excludes the purchase of large machinery or electronic equipment, keeping the focus firmly on community benefit and volunteer-led action.
