Deadline: 4-Dec-22
Nominations for the 2023 Australia Day Awards are now open.
Livingstone Shire Council’s annual Australia Day Awards are held to acknowledge the valuable contributions made by local citizens and groups to the community. The Australia Day Awards are administered by a local committee on behalf of the Livingstone Shire Council, with the committee selecting each award category winner.
The awards give the community an opportunity to publicly recognise the special people in the community who have gone and beyond to help improve the lives of others and contribute to a diverse, friendly and strong community.
This special person could be your neighbour, a friend or someone you have come across through your local school, church or community group. Whoever springs to mind, they are someone who works selflessly to help improve your life and the lives of others.
Nominate someone you know for one for the following awards
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Community Group Service Award
- Outstanding Dedication to Public Service
- Living Legend
Criteria
- Aim for quality, not quantity – a long nomination isn’t always a better nomination. Keep your sentences short and concise, avoiding repetition.
- Consider your audience – the committee is made up of everyday community members from all walks of life who may not be familiar with the nominee’s field of expertise, so avoid using jargon or acronyms.
- Share the nominee’s story – strengthen your nomination by painting a picture of the nominee i.e. What motivates theme? What personal challenges have they overcome? Why do they inspire others?
- Tell the facts – support your nomination with facts and statistics such as measures of success.
- Provide examples – don’t just make a statement, demonstrate it with examples. To help you get started here is an example of a stand out award nomination.
