Ires Veneto is currently inviting applications for its initiative on Local Healthcare and the Challenge of Demographic and Social Changes. The program seeks to bring healthcare services closer to citizens and communities, making them more accessible, efficient, and capable of supporting health throughout people’s lives.
The initiative emphasizes stronger integration between healthcare and social services, aiming for better continuity of care between hospitals and communities. To achieve this, it plans to enhance local networks through interventions such as Community Houses, Community Hospitals, Local Operations Centers, home care, and telemedicine. These reforms align with the standards and structures outlined in Ministerial Decree 77/2022, which also introduces new professional roles like family and community nurses.
Applicants are encouraged to explore a wide range of topics. These include the impact of demographic and family changes on healthcare needs, investments under the PNRR for territorial healthcare, and the effects of the new system on care continuity and socio-health integration. Other areas of interest involve the organization of Community Houses and Hospitals, the role of general practitioners, new healthcare professions, training and staffing needs, and the use of digital technologies like telemedicine.
Submissions can also examine the role of the third sector, user participation, the economic sustainability of the healthcare model, and best practices or innovative approaches in community healthcare. Interdisciplinary perspectives are welcome to enrich the analysis.
This Call for Abstracts is open to scholars and researchers from various fields such as health, economics, law, sociology, political science, and organizational studies. While the focus is on Italy—especially the Veneto Region—comparative studies from other national or international contexts are also encouraged.
