Deadline: 18-Sep-2025
The Ontario Arts Council has launched the Multi and Inter-Arts Projects Grant Program to support the creation, production, and presentation of multi- and inter-arts activities. The program is open to professional Ontario artists, collectives, ad hoc groups, and organizations working across various art forms. The initiative aims to strengthen the province’s professional multi- and inter-arts community.
This program focuses on activities that combine two or more artistic disciplines in a balanced way. These forms may stay distinct or merge into new, unified expressions. The projects should not qualify for OAC’s discipline-specific programs in areas like Theatre, Dance, Music, Literature, Visual Arts, or Media Arts.
There are four categories under this program. The Creation category funds early-stage research and experimentation, with a maximum grant of $10,000. The Production and Presentation category supports artistic production and public presentation, offering up to $20,000. Series/Festivals provides up to $15,000 for events presented regularly or within a focused time frame. Development Initiatives offers up to $8,000 for sector-benefitting activities like professional development, training, or conferences.
Eligible expenses include artist fees, production costs, equipment purchases, venue rentals, marketing and admin costs, child or dependent care, and accessibility-related costs for participants or audiences. Applicants with disabilities may request additional support through the Accessibility Fund.
Some costs are not eligible. These include events outside Ontario, student or amateur projects, fundraising efforts, tours, major capital expenses, and activities that don’t center around artistic programming.
Applicants must meet specific criteria. Individual applicants must be professional artists or arts professionals living in Ontario, aged 18 or older, and either Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or have an application pending. They must also have been in Ontario for a required portion of the previous year, depending on any absences.
Ad hoc groups or collectives must have at least two members who meet individual eligibility, with at least 50% residing in Ontario. They cannot be incorporated and must be able to cash a cheque in the group’s name.
Not-for-profit organizations must be incorporated in Ontario or federally, based in Ontario, and governed by a volunteer or advisory board. For-profit applicants must be eligible Ontario-based book or magazine publishers.
Colleges and universities must be based in Ontario, employ staff responsible for arts programming, and present or produce professional Ontario artists or groups. Municipalities, school boards, First Nations, or Indigenous-administered schools must also be Ontario-based and engage or present professional artists with a staff member overseeing arts programming.
