Deadline: 7-Mar-23
The Administrator of the Administration for Community Living invites applications for a new award for fiscal year (FY) 2023 for a Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) on Community Living and Participation for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
The purpose of this particular RRTC is to generate new research-based knowledge on Community Living and Participation among People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
Priorities
The Administrator of the Administration for Community Living establishes a priority for an RRTC on Community Living and Participation of People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). The RRTC must contribute to the outcome of improved community living and participation outcomes among people with IDD by:
- Focusing its research on people with IDD as a group or on people in specific disability or demographic subpopulations of people with IDD. NIDILRR is particular interested in receiving proposals for research that focuses on the community living experiences and outcomes of people with IDD who do not receive services or supports from State or Federal programs that are designed to serve this population.
- Conducting research activities in one or more of the following priority areas:
- Technology to improve community living and participation outcomes for people with IDD.
- Individual and environmental factors associated with improved community living and participation outcomes for people with IDD.
- Interventions that contribute to improved community living and participation outcomes for people with IDD. Interventions include any strategy, practice, program, policy, or tool that, when implemented as intended, contributes to improvements in outcomes for people with IDD.
- Effects of government practices, policies and programs on community living and participation outcomes for people with IDD.
- The relationship between implementation of the CMS HCBS Settings Final Rule and community living experiences and outcomes of people with IDD.
- Practices and policies that contribute to improved community living and participation outcomes for transition-aged youth with IDD.
- Working closely with NIDILRR and ACL to develop plans and infrastructure for a sustainable long- term effort to collect longitudinal health and community living data from people with IDD.
- Demonstrating, in its original application, that people with IDD from racial and ethnic minority backgrounds will be included in study samples in sufficient numbers to generate knowledge and products that are relevant to the racial and ethnic diversity of the population of people with IDD being studies. The RRTC must describe and justify, in its original application, the planned racial and ethnic distribution of people with disabilities who will participate in the proposed research activities.
