The Northern Manitoba Food, Culture, and Community Collaborative is offering a meaningful opportunity for communities in Northern Manitoba through its 2026 grant program. This initiative is designed to support projects that center food, cultural revitalization, and community-led economic development. Grants are available to help bring to life initiatives that reflect local knowledge, traditions, and the unique strengths of northern communities.
For 2026, there are three types of grants available. Regular project grants range from $15,000 to $35,000 and are meant for larger, more developed initiatives. Small grants, ranging from $1,000 to $15,000, offer support for more modest or emerging projects. Planning grants, also between $1,000 and $15,000, are intended to help communities develop and prepare for larger projects in the future.
The program encourages early conversations with communities to help guide them through the application process. Rather than a strict application-only approach, this process is relationship-driven and includes guidance, feedback, and support throughout. Communities can share their ideas verbally or in writing, and are encouraged to shape their proposals in ways that make sense to them.
The grants are not just financial support—they are an invitation to connect with others, share knowledge, and build lasting systems rooted in culture, food sovereignty, and local resilience. The deadline for submitting applications is November 7, 2025, with funding decisions expected in early 2026. This is a chance for communities to move forward with projects that reflect who they are and what they envision for the future.
Organizations interested in applying are encouraged to begin the conversation now. With a thoughtful and supportive process in place, this opportunity is designed to uplift community voices and help bring powerful local ideas to life.
