One Community Foundation, in partnership with Kirklees Council, has launched the Household Support Fund, offering vital support to community groups and charities.
This fund aims to help vulnerable residents meet essential needs during difficult times by channeling resources directly where they matter most.
There are two grant rounds this year, with applications opening from mid-June to late July and again from early to late September. Eligible organisations may apply for grants ranging from £2,000 to £10,000 each round, and groups are welcome to apply in both rounds regardless of past success.
The Household Support Fund supports a wide range of crisis needs, including coverage of energy and water bills, food via vouchers or parcels, and essential hygiene items. It also embraces preventive activities—participants can apply for support in areas such as benefit advice, budgeting workshops, cooking or digital skills training, community kitchen events, and energy efficiency measures, from insulation to efficient lighting.
When applying, organisations will need to submit governance documentation, recent financial accounts or cash flow statements, and a bank statement under the exact name of the group. Monitoring requirements are more rigorous than usual—awarded groups must submit interim and final reports using both online forms and Excel templates. This data is essential for tracking the use of funds, identifying who receives support, and ensuring compliance with government timelines.
