The Pride Foundation Australia is currently inviting applications for its Small Grants Program, offering grassroots support to LGBTQIA+ individuals, groups, and communities nationwide.
This initiative provides small-scale funding for creative, community-led projects that promote wellbeing, mental health, social connection, or resources for LGBTQIA+ Australians.
Grants are capped at $1,000 and may be used for activations such as community events, website development, artist or speaker fees, venue hire, community meals, or youth programming—essentially, small yet impactful initiatives that uplift local LGBTQIA+ communities. Applications are welcomed year-round, with structured funding rounds that prioritize First Nations communities, newly arrived migrants, refugees, and culturally diverse populations, followed by a focus on regional and rural areas.
Eligible applicants include Australian citizens, permanent residents, or community groups operating within Australia. Individuals may apply without an Australian Business Number and are encouraged to collaborate with or apply through an auspice organization to strengthen their submissions. Creativity and innovation are especially prized, alongside meaningful partnerships and fresh voices from communities not recently funded—applicants who haven’t received a Small Grant in the past two years are especially welcome.
All applications are assessed on their potential to build community connection, enhance skills, foster resilience, or support organisational capacity. Projects should be well planned and highlight involvement from the LGBTQIA+ community in design and delivery. Supporting materials may include budgets that demonstrate appropriate resourcing, including co-funding or in-kind contributions.
A second round prioritizes First Nations people and migrants, followed by a third round that targets regional and rural initiatives. Timing ensures successful applicants have sufficient lead time to execute their meaningful community projects.
This Small Grants Program offers a valuable and accessible funding pathway for vibrant, locally grounded LGBTQIA+ projects—whether through arts, community-building, wellbeing, or digital innovations—to flourish with financial and strategic support.
