Deadline: 09-Sep-2025
The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) is accepting applications for projects that provide direct training and technical assistance (TTA) to both current and potential OVW grant recipients. The goal is to help them successfully implement OVW-funded projects focused on addressing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
The OVW’s TA Initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of professionals in the civil and criminal justice systems, as well as victim service providers. It also encourages collaboration among organizations to more effectively respond to the four VAWA crimes across the United States.
Priority consideration may be given to applications that address human trafficking and transnational crimes connected to domestic violence or sexual assault. Projects that offer victim services, particularly housing, or improve law enforcement responses in underserved areas such as rural regions, Tribal nations, and small towns, may also receive preference.
The total expected funding for this program is approximately $29.6 million. Awards will range between $150,000 and $1.5 million, and the grant period may last from 9 to 36 months.
Certain activities are ineligible for funding. Projects that do not align with the program’s purpose areas or involve prohibited activities, such as research, promotion of gender ideology, or discriminatory DEI programs, will not be supported. Activities that oppose law enforcement, prioritize social justice framing over victim safety, or include general community outreach without a clear link to violence prevention are also excluded.
Other ineligible uses of grant funds include lobbying, fundraising, property purchases, building construction or renovation, and any activities that violate Executive Orders. Additionally, TA Initiative funds cannot be used for direct victim services, legal representation, or law enforcement actions, and projects limited to a single geographic area are generally not allowed unless otherwise specified.
Eligible applicants include national, Tribal, state, and nonprofit organizations with the capacity to offer technical assistance at the national level. Institutions of higher education, government entities, and local organizations may be eligible in rare cases. All applicants must be prepared to support a wide range of OVW-funded initiatives across the U.S. and its territories.
