Deadline: 14-Sep-2025
The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention is accepting applications for its Youth Digital Health Champions Program to foster youth-driven innovations and participation in digital health.
YiDHN’s thematic areas align with its broader Strategy objectives to Strengthen capacity and digital literacy among youth; Engage youth in governance and regulatory forums; Facilitate access to funding and pathways for sustainable scale; Connect youth with key stakeholders in digital health.
The Youth Digital Health Champions (Y-DHC) program seeks to identify, profile, and connect dynamic young leaders who are actively shaping the digital health landscape across Africa. These champions will serve as role models, advocates, and collaborators in advancing digital health innovation, policy, and practice. The initiative aims to build a visible and impactful network that can inform policies, strengthen local innovation ecosystems, and amplify youth leadership across the continent.
Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of application, be citizens of African Union member states or Africans in the diaspora, and possess proficiency in English, French, Arabic, or Portuguese. They must also be actively engaged in digital health through innovation, research and academia, public health programs utilizing digital tools, policy development or advocacy, or digital literacy initiatives.
Selection will be based on leadership and initiative, impact and innovation, and motivation and potential for growth and influence. Candidates whose work aligns with YiDHN’s focus areas of capacity building and digital literacy, youth engagement in governance and regulation, scaling innovations and accessing funding, and stakeholder and network mobilization are especially encouraged to apply.
Chosen Youth Champions will benefit from visibility and recognition across Africa CDC and YiDHN channels, access to high-level convenings including Africa CDC forums and the Africa HealthTech Summit 2025, opportunities for peer networking and collaboration, capacity building through training and policy engagement, and support for scaleup and expansion through partnerships, mentorship, seed funding, and participation in innovation challenges and accelerator programs.
The engagement will last 12 months. Applicants must submit a completed application form by September 14, 2025, along with a CV not exceeding two pages and one letter of recommendation. Links to projects, publications, or media may also be included optionally.
