Deadline: 18-Aug-2025
The Regional Arts Fund – Project Grants offers major funding to support high-quality arts projects that benefit artists, arts workers, audiences, and communities in regional or remote parts of Australia. These projects can span any area of creative practice, including multiple art forms or cross-disciplinary work.
The fund is designed to promote participation in and access to arts and culture across regional Australia. It aims to encourage sustainable economic, social, and cultural development in local communities, foster partnerships that provide financial or in-kind support, and promote ongoing collaboration.
It also seeks to expand audiences and increase community engagement with the arts, raise the profile of regional artists, and provide employment and professional development opportunities. The fund ultimately supports the viability and quality of regional artistic activity.
Applicants may apply for grants of up to $30,000. The funds can be used for costs related to producing the project, such as artist fees, travel (including international), materials, venue and equipment hire, insurance, administration, and costs related to disability access.
However, the grant does not cover core administrative expenses of the applicant organisation, infrastructure costs like permanent building works, or activities that primarily benefit metropolitan areas. It also excludes projects that begin before approval, duplicate government-funded components, or fail to align with the fund’s core objectives.
Additional exclusions include city-based tours, school curriculum-based programs, competitions or awards, and ongoing projects of collecting institutions.
To be eligible, applicants must be individuals, incorporated Australian organisations, or local government entities with an active ABN registered to their name and location. They must be GST-registered if required and have no outstanding reports or breaches related to prior government funding.
Ineligible applicants include unincorporated groups without proper auspicing and for-profit companies.
