Deadline: 30-Sep-2025
The H. Hovnanian Family Foundation has announced its third-quarter call for proposals aimed at enhancing environmental awareness and resilience in Armenia. The country faces growing environmental challenges, including climate-related shocks and unsustainable land use. With the upcoming COP17 conference scheduled to be held in Armenia in 2026, there is a unique opportunity to raise awareness and build momentum both nationally and locally.
The foundation seeks to support projects that promote environmental education, encourage sustainable practices, and improve institutional and community preparedness. Priority will be given to proposals aligned with Armenia’s national environmental strategies that show potential for long-term impact and sustainability. Projects that incorporate community engagement and foster behavioral change are especially welcomed.
Key objectives include strengthening resilience to environmental shocks by improving early warning systems, infrastructure, and nature-based solutions to mitigate risks such as floods, heatwaves, and droughts. Another focus is promoting sustainable resource use through biodiversity-friendly land and water management, renewable energy adoption, and pollution prevention to support Armenia’s transition to a greener economy. The foundation also encourages efforts to expand environmental education, increase community awareness, and engage youth while fostering grassroots innovation and sustainability culture.
A total of $320,000 USD is available, with expected awards ranging between $30,000 and $35,000. Eligible applicants include registered charitable organizations such as IRS-designated 501(c)(3) entities in the U.S. and state-registered nonprofits and charities in Armenia. Applicants must have at least three years of demonstrated program outcomes and align their projects with the foundation’s quarterly focus areas. Previous grant recipients must wait at least 12 months before applying again.
The foundation does not fund operational overhead expenses, unregistered entities, for-profit organizations, political action groups, or projects aimed at producing commercial goods.
