Deadline: 29-Aug-2025
The Shire of Denmark’s Community Grant Program offers financial support to local, not-for-profit community organisations and groups undertaking projects that benefit the Denmark community.
The program features several grant categories. Environmental Sustainability supports projects aligned with the Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan. Wellbeing grants aim to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable community members. Equipment and Facilities funding is intended for groups needing to upgrade infrastructure or equipment to continue their services, and may also help leverage other funding sources.
The Be Active category supports initiatives that promote community connection through events, programs, or new services. The Startup grant is for newly forming community clubs or groups addressing unmet needs. It is a one-time opportunity for groups that already have members and a place to operate. Build Future Leaders is for groups seeking to strengthen their sustainability through leadership or governance training, or youth development.
Each grant category has specific funding limits. Environmental Sustainability, Wellbeing, and Be Active each allow a maximum request of $5,000. Equipment and Facilities can go up to $10,000. Startup grants are capped at $1,000, while Build Future Leaders offers up to $2,000.
Eligible project expenses may include publicity and marketing, printing promotional materials, equipment purchase or rental for events, covering council fees, supporting workshops, and small-scale construction or repairs that benefit the community.
Applicants must be incorporated, not-for-profit organisations or unincorporated groups applying under an incorporated sponsor. They should be based locally or provide essential services to the Denmark community where no local alternatives exist. Applicants who previously received grants must have completed all required reporting.
Ineligible applicants include individuals, sole traders, commercial businesses, educational institutions, and government bodies. Organisations outside the Shire are also ineligible unless they clearly meet a critical community need with no local provider. Additionally, fundraising-focused organisations, those who failed to report on past grants, or groups whose values conflict with the Shire of Denmark’s, are not eligible to apply.
