The Road Safety Commission’s Project Grant supports community-based projects and events that promote road safety awareness and engagement across Western Australia.
Road Safety Project Grants are available for groups to apply to implement road safety projects that can run up to 12 months and should comprise of road safety activities that can be sustained after the funding period. Funding is available up to $25,000 (excluding GST) per project.
This program provides an opportunity for communities to actively participate in initiatives that make local roads safer through education, engagement, and action-oriented projects. It encourages collaboration among local governments, schools, clubs, and community organisations in designing and implementing impactful road safety activities.
Eligible applicants include incorporated not-for-profit community groups and clubs, Western Australian local governments, health organisations, schools, service clubs, and youth development groups. Organisations or groups that encourage active community participation in the planning and implementation of road safety programs are also eligible. To be considered, applicants must have a current Australian Business Number that is not for a commercial entity or individual, be incorporated, and comply with relevant State and Federal legislation such as Working with Children Screening, Criminal Record Checking, and Liquor Control. For services involving child-related work, organisations must also implement the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
The program will not fund unincorporated organisations, profit-making entities, private businesses, research organisations, state government agencies, individuals, or projects that already receive funding from the Road Safety Commission. Duplicated projects that overlap with existing programs or those funded by other agencies are also ineligible.
