The Rural Housing Service is accepting applications for the Rural Community Development Initiative Program. This program offers financial and technical assistance to help organizations develop their capacity to undertake projects focused on housing, community facilities, and economic development in rural areas. Eligible applicants include private organizations, nonprofits, and public or Tribal intermediary organizations working to improve rural communities.
The program has a total budget of $5 million. Grants range from a minimum of $50,000 to a maximum of $500,000 per intermediary. Recipients must use the funds within three years of the award date. Eligible applicants include federally recognized Native American tribal governments, special district governments, independent school districts, public housing authorities, state governments, nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status excluding higher education institutions, for-profit organizations excluding small businesses, public and private institutions of higher education, and small businesses. Individuals are not eligible.
Applications must provide the applicant’s name, address, telephone number, contact person’s name with email and phone, county and congressional district location, the requested grant amount, and the number of recipients the project will serve.
