Are you a young Jamaican between 18–35 years old, ready to turn your passion for agriculture into a thriving business? The Rural Youth Economic Empowerment Programme (RYEEP) is back for 2025/2026!
The Jamaica 4-H Clubs, a statutory body under the Ministry of Agriculture in Jamaica, operates with the motto “To Make the Best Better” and offers a range of training and support to youth. The organization’s focus areas, themes, and training topics include: youth advocacy, agriculture, home economics, Business Management, Good Agricultural Practices, Financial Management, Record Keeping, and Climate Smart Agriculture.
The Jamaica 4-H Clubs offers various training programs and manages significant projects such as the National School Garden Programme, the Rural Youth Economic Empowerment Programme (RYEEP), and the EnGenDER project. The organization also provides a Rio Tinto scholarship and has a Youth in Agriculture roadmap. The clubs aim to address challenges like climate change and gender inequality within the agricultural sector, encouraging young people to see agriculture as a viable career path.
The Rural Youth Economic Empowerment Programme (RYEEP) provides up to $100,000 in agricultural support, venture inputs, and training to Youth Farmers, Fishers, and Agro-Processors. Participants can receive NCTVET Level 2 Certification and up to six months of business coaching and mentorship. The program also includes study tours and field visits.
To be eligible for this opportunity, individuals must be between the ages of 18 and 35, be unemployed, and be able to attend at least 90% of the training sessions to benefit from the inputs. They must also be engaged in an existing Livestock, Fisheries, Crop Production, or Agro-processing enterprise and complete NCTVET Level 1 and 2 Assessment.
