Deadline: 29-Aug-2025
The Seagull Centre has launched an exciting opportunity for changemakers in Thames, Coromandel, and Hauraki through its Community Grants Programme.
Their Community Grants programme is now open, providing financial support to bring local environmental projects to life. Grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the project’s scope and impact.
The grants aim to support projects that foster community engagement and resilience. Eligible initiatives should focus on creating opportunities for locals to engage in environmental issues, promoting sustainable living practices, enhancing food security, or encouraging environmental guardianship. Projects that align with the principles of the “six Rs”—Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Repair, Reuse, Recycle—are particularly encouraged. Additionally, applicants are encouraged to link their projects to one or more of the United Nations Global Goals, providing a broader framework for their initiatives.
The Seagull Centre is committed to supporting a diverse range of projects that reflect the unique needs and aspirations of the local communities. Whether it’s a school garden project, a community recycling initiative, or a workshop promoting sustainable practices, the Centre is eager to see how these grants can help turn ideas into reality. Successful applicants will be notified by September 5, 2025, with grant payments scheduled for September 20, 2025, allowing projects to commence in October 2025.
This initiative underscores the Seagull Centre’s dedication to fostering environmental stewardship and community involvement. By providing financial support and encouraging collaboration, the Centre aims to empower local residents to take proactive steps toward a more sustainable future.
