The Sported, in partnership with Flutter UK & Ireland, is offering a valuable funding opportunity through the Cash4Clubs programme for community sports clubs and groups across the UK and Ireland.
This initiative is designed to support adult-only organisations working to improve their sustainability, develop facilities, expand participation, and meet core operational costs. Grants of £2,000 (or €2,000 in Ireland) are available, offering flexible, unrestricted funding tailored to grassroots needs.
The funding can be used for a wide range of purposes including new equipment, facility improvements, coaching development, marketing efforts, volunteer support, insurance, and more. Because the funding is unrestricted, clubs can prioritise their most urgent needs and ensure that resources go where they’ll make the biggest difference.
Cash4Clubs particularly encourages applications from organisations operating in disadvantaged areas or working with underrepresented adult groups, including women, people with disabilities, racially diverse communities, and LGBTQ+ participants. The goal is to boost inclusivity and access to sport as a tool for positive social impact, such as improving mental health, reducing isolation, or fostering community connection.
Eligible applicants must be not-for-profit organisations that serve only adults aged 18 and above. They must also use sport with a social purpose and provide documentation such as a governing document, a recent bank statement, and a safeguarding policy if working with vulnerable adults.
The application window runs from early September to early December, and successful applicants are expected to spend their grants within six months. A final impact report will also be required to help Sported track the outcomes and learn from the projects funded.
Even if your organisation has received Cash4Clubs funding in the past, you can apply again—though first-time applicants will be prioritised in the case of high demand. Sported also provides accessibility support during the application process to ensure an inclusive opportunity for all qualifying groups.
This is a meaningful chance for local clubs to boost their impact and sustainability while continuing to make a difference through sport.
