Deadline: 04-Aug-2025
Pollicy has announced the launch of three fellowship tracks aligned with their mission to promote a safe, joyful, and just digital world. The fellowship is designed as a launchpad for emerging African thinkers, creatives, technologists, and community organizers who aim to transform civic technology, digital rights, and feminist data practices.
The Pollicy Fellowship is more than a learning opportunity. Fellows engage in co-creating meaningful work that strengthens communities, influences digital policy, and sparks long-term change. It welcomes individuals driven by purpose and curiosity, ready to reimagine the digital future on African terms.
One of the fellowship tracks is for a Francophone Community Engagement Fellow. The fellow will support building relationships in Francophone Africa by leading feminist digital rights initiatives, organizing events, and producing localized content in French. The ideal candidate is fluent in French and English, experienced in grassroots organizing, and passionate about storytelling and community building.
Another track is the Grants & Growth Fellow. This role involves researching funding opportunities, drafting proposals, mapping partnerships, and supporting communications with donors. Applicants should have strong writing and storytelling abilities, and an interest in strategy, communication, or fundraising, with a commitment to equity and transformation.
The Games Design Fellow will develop civic games that are educational and transformative. The fellow will prototype various types of games, collaborate with creatives, test with youth and community groups, and help expand Pollicy’s Afrofeminist Data Museum. Candidates should have experience or a strong interest in game design, familiarity with tools like Figma or Unity, and a creative, playful mindset rooted in African realities.
Fellows will directly contribute to Pollicy projects, receive weekly mentorship, and have the chance to publish their work through toolkits, blogs, or games. They will also complete a final public-facing project and become part of a growing alumni community.
The fellowship lasts for six months, requiring a flexible commitment of four days per week. While primarily remote, occasional in-person events may occur. Fellows receive a monthly stipend of USD 500 and internet support.
Eligible applicants include students, early-career professionals, creatives, researchers, and technologists, especially those involved in civic tech, storytelling, policy, or design. Pollicy especially encourages individuals from underrepresented communities and those based in East, West, or Central Africa to apply.
