The Donations for Charitable Purposes Program offers monetary and in-kind support to individuals, not-for-profit community groups, and organizations within the Camden Local Government Area (LGA). It ensures a consistent process for handling requests that aim to support charitable causes benefiting the local community.
The program allows for donations of up to $1,000 in either monetary or in-kind form. Applications can be made by individuals or groups who live or operate within the Camden LGA, or whose projects directly benefit Camden residents. Only one-off donations are supported, either to individuals or for specific projects by organizations.
Applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis by a committee including the Mayor and General Manager, based on assessments and recommendations from Council officers. Recurring funding such as operating costs, bonds, or insurance is generally not eligible.
Camden-based primary and secondary schools may also apply for the Mayoral Citizenship Prize under this program. This consists of a certificate and a book prize awarded annually to one nominated student from each school.
To apply, written applications must include the name and address of the applicant or organization, contact information for an authorized representative, the donation amount requested, the purpose of the request, and how it benefits Camden LGA residents. Applicants must also provide either a fundraising authority from the NSW Office of Charities or a statutory declaration (for individuals) confirming that funds will be used solely for charitable purposes. Relevant incorporation details, supporting documentation, and bank account information must also be submitted.
