Deadline: 19-Sep-2025
The WintercityYXE Micro-Grant Program aims to support initiatives that make Saskatoon a great place to live in the wintertime.
The focus of the program is to build enthusiasm for winters; to provide comfort and accessibility in the winter; and to celebrate the fun quality of winter life.
This grant program is open to non-profit organizations, ad hoc groups, businesses, or for-profit organizations located in Saskatoon but not to individuals or those without proper insurance or those who have not complied with previous funding terms. Funding ranges from $500 to $1,000 per project, and only one project application per applicant is accepted. Eligible projects must be outdoor initiatives that align with the program’s goals, such as hosting outdoor events, creating outdoor patios or stores, constructing large-scale snow or ice sculptures, or offering learn-to programs. Indoor-only or online-only projects, projects outside Saskatoon, or rink development projects are not eligible for this funding.
Expenses eligible for reimbursement must be supported with receipts and occur within the grant period of November 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026. Eligible expenses exclude alcoholic beverages, cannabis, and rink development or equipment costs. Organizers hosting public community, culture, or recreation activities must apply for an Outdoor Special Event permit, although receiving the grant does not guarantee permit approval.
Applications will be screened by random draw within the categories of business, non-profit organizations or groups, and neighborhood community associations until funds are depleted. Applicants will be notified of outcomes by October 15, 2025, with grant awards subject to withdrawal under certain conditions such as significant project changes without city approval or funding cuts.
Recipients must acknowledge support from the City of Saskatoon and WintercityYXE in project materials following specific recognition guidelines. Applications must be submitted online by September 19, 2025, including project descriptions, safety plans, and other organizational details. Successful grant recipients are required to submit a follow-up report and receipts within 60 days after project completion or by April 30, 2026.
