Deadline: 30-Sep-2025
The Taupō District Council invites creative individuals and groups to apply for the Creative Communities Scheme, a collaboration with Creative New Zealand designed to support arts and culture projects that enrich the local community.
The scheme funds projects that broaden community participation in the arts, increase the diversity of cultural expression, or encourage young people to engage in creative pursuits. These projects might include performances, exhibitions, festivals, workshops, public art, film, or cultural works with a focus on local Māori traditions and heritage.
Applicants can apply for any amount of funding, and while there is no upper limit, most grants awarded tend to be under $2,000. To be eligible, you must be an individual or group based in New Zealand. Individuals applying must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents. If you have received previous CCS funding, you must complete a project report before applying again, unless your funded project is still ongoing. Projects that have already been funded under another Creative New Zealand program are not eligible for CCS funding.
To be considered, your project must take place within the Taupō District, not have already started, and be completed within one year of approval. The project should provide a clear benefit to the local community and avoid duplicating existing support available through other programs.
Once approved, successful projects must submit an accountability form within one month of completion to report on outcomes and how funds were used.
This program is an excellent opportunity for local creatives to share their talents, bring people together, and strengthen cultural participation in Taupō. With small but impactful grants available, even modest projects have the chance to make a lasting difference in the community.
