The Guinness Dublin 8 Community Fund is dedicated to empowering local communities in Dublin 8 by supporting charities, non-profit organizations, and voluntary groups that make a tangible difference in the area.
Through direct grants, the Fund aims to strengthen grassroots initiatives that improve the quality of life for residents, promote social cohesion, and foster a sense of community pride. By focusing on projects with clear local impact, the Fund continues Guinness’s long-standing tradition of contributing to the wellbeing and progress of the Dublin 8 community.
Developed through consultation with residents and stakeholders, the Fund focuses on three key objectives that reflect the needs and aspirations of Dublin 8 communities. These include enhancing educational opportunities and outcomes, fostering community development, and addressing sustainability and climate-related challenges at the local level. By supporting projects that align with these priorities, the Fund seeks to build stronger, more inclusive, and environmentally conscious neighborhoods.
To ensure equitable access and support for organizations of varying sizes, the Guinness Dublin 8 Community Fund is structured across three funding strands based on annual income. Strand 1 is open to smaller organizations with annual incomes under €20,000, offering 10 grants of up to €2,500 each to grassroots initiatives. Strand 2 targets medium-sized organizations with incomes between €20,000 and €200,000, awarding 5 grants of up to €20,000, which may be distributed over one to three years. Strand 3 supports larger community organizations with annual incomes between €200,000 and €1,000,000, providing 5 grants of €75,000 each to help deliver sustained impact through more extensive projects.
Eligibility across all strands requires that organizations be based in and directly benefit the Dublin 8 community. Only not-for-profit entities with proper governance, financial accountability, and relevant safeguarding measures are eligible to apply. The Fund excludes profit-making entities, branches of national charities, and organizations focused primarily on animal welfare, sports, or religion.
By investing in education, community development, and sustainability, the Guinness Dublin 8 Community Fund serves as a catalyst for positive local change. It not only supports the immediate needs of residents but also helps build a foundation for long-term resilience, opportunity, and shared prosperity within one of Dublin’s most vibrant and historic neighborhoods.
