The International Renaissance Foundation (IRF) within the framework of the EU4USociety project in cooperation with the European Union has announce a competition “Strengthening the socio-economic stability and self-sufficiency of Roma communities.”
- Development and implementation of initiatives and campaigns aimed at reducing the level of anti-Gypsyism and discrimination against Roma in the labor market;
- Building effective interaction between Roma NGOs and communities and local governments, state employment centers, recruitment agencies and employers, development of mediation and facilitation in employment and access to economic resources;
- Advocacy for social responsibility of business and involvement of such business in the support of Roma communities, in particular through the creation of inclusive workspaces and the introduction of support programs for Roma employment;
- Design and implementation of initiatives for pre- or retraining, job training and development of financial literacy and relevant competencies in Roma communities, as well as support programs in employment and workplace;
- Capacity building and improvement of conditions for existing entrepreneurial initiatives, in particular social entrepreneurship, in Roma communities;
- Empowerment of Roma or Roma groups, especially those engaged seasonally or in informal spheres of the economy, to protect their own labor rights.
- The total budget of the competition is UAH 4,850,000.
- The minimum grant amount is UAH 300,000.
- The maximum grant amount is UAH 500,000.
- The optimal size of the grant is UAH 400,000 – 450,000.
- The maximum project implementation period is 1 year.
- Public organizations, unions, associations, societies and other associations registered in accordance with Ukrainian legislation as non-profit or charitable organizations.
- Proposals submitted by for-profit organizations, political parties or religious communities will not be accepted.
- substantive compliance of the project proposal with the purpose and priorities of the competition;
- qualitative preliminary analysis of the problem (current employment, the needs of Roma communities and obstacles for them in the labor market);
- innovative and integrated approach to the implementation of project ideas;
- realism of the project, the presence of a clear plan for its implementation, the certainty of the expected results and the realism of their achievement through project activities;
- availability of objective indicators for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of project activities;
- sustainability of project results and reproducibility of project activities in general;
- institutional capacity of the organization (availability of expertise, previous work experience within the framework of competitive priorities, availability of necessary staff and material resources);
- the presence of a communication component in the project, the ability to disseminate information about its results to the general public;
- compliance of the budget with the declared activity, validity.
