The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is pleased to announce the LVG Integrated Environmental Management and Climate Resilience Project.
Objectives
- The main objective of the grant is to identify national organizations – whether civil society organizations (CSO), national nongovernmental organizations (NNGO) community-based organizations (CBO), or the like – with operational presence and capacities in one or more of the six (5) regions of The Gambia to:
- Support innovative solutions in the Renewable Energy Sector in The Gambia in coordination with the main NNGO/CSO/CBO partners
- Establish directly with beneficiaries in the renewable energy space
- Provide Women and Youth-Led Renewable Micro Enterprise Incubation for Inclusive Implementation of The Gambia’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC)
- Undertake income-generating activities designed to empower women, address gender parity and alleviate poverty through the renewable energy sector
Funding Information
- The threshold for the LVGs is a maximum of $25,000.00 per awardee for the six (6) successful Renewable Energy Micro-Enterprises.
Geographical Scope
- This call for proposals is a nationwide call for CSOs, NGOs and CBOs in the renewable energy space. Prospective CSOs, NGOs and CBOs can only apply for only one or two grant application per region.
Expected Outputs
- The expected outputs for these Low Value Grant (LVG) on renewable energy micro enterprises include the:
- Successful operation of six (6) small-scale youth-led renewable energy enterprises. These enterprises should demonstrate the ability to generate sustainable renewable energy solutions tailored to local needs.
- Ability to create at least ten (10) job opportunities, enhance energy access in underserved communities, and reduce carbon footprints.
- Ability to foster fifteen (15) community engagement and education reaching 150 people on renewable energy benefits, ultimately contributing to economic growth and environmental sustainability.
- Regular monitoring and evaluation resulting into monthly project results by the CSOs to ensure the project’s goals are met and provide insights for future initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria
- The youth/women led enterprises CSO/NGO/CBO must meet the following criteria to be eligible for selection must:
- Owned by a Gambian and residing in one of the regions of The Gambia
- Be legally registered and in possession of a valid registration certificate
- Have a mandate and documents in line with activities for which the fund is being sought.
- Have an established office, with functional email and office telephones.
- Have operational staff.
- Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the project, i.e. not acting as an intermediary.
- Have an operational Business Account
Ineligibility Criteria
- The following types of project proposals are not eligible for funding:
- Proposals concerned only or mainly with individual sponsorships for participation in workshops, seminars, conferences, congresses.
- Proposals concerned only or mainly with scholarships for Study Tours/Training courses.
- Proposals which consist exclusively or primarily of capital expenditure e.g., land, buildings equipment, vehicles, etc.
- Proposals which do not demonstrate equal treatment for individuals or groups of people on grounds of their gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or lack of them, or their ethnic origin.
