The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is inviting Local Implementing Partners Within the Framework of the Project for “Economic Recovery and Poverty Reduction in Response to the Effects of Covid-19 in the Territories of Uvira – Walungu – Idjwi – Kalehe – Kabare” / SOUTH KIVU PROVINCE.
The overall objective of this call for proposals for fixed-cost projects is to identify, within the framework of the “Economic Recovery and Poverty Reduction project in response to the effects of Covid-19 in the Territories of Walungu-Uvira -Idjwi-Kalehe-Kabare”, partner NGOs for the implementation of the activities of this project. The target to be covered by these activities concerns 3,000 agricultural producers grouped in 100 Farmer Organizations (PO), 8 Cooperatives, and 300 economic operators involved in the commercial development of various agricultural products.
Specific Objectives
The projects expected from the bidders will be aligned with the specific objectives below
- Support local development actors as well as populations to participate in the research and implementation of solutions to the needs expressed by local agricultural operators to improve their productivity, resilience, and local development.
- Create employment and relaunch agricultural activities for local initiatives affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
Duration of the project: The total duration of the implementation of the project activities is twelve (12) months, starting as soon as possible.
Expected Outcomes
Expected results/outputs Three Products are expected from this partnership.
- Innovative solutions of agricultural operators serving to meet the needs of local communities are put in place.
- Guarantee funds placed in microfinance institutions (MFIs) and local cooperatives to facilitate access to credit for local producers and other economic operators.
- Direct support in heavy agricultural materials and equipment is granted to POs and support for job creation in the form of HIMO (work for pay) to the poorest and most vulnerable groups.
Eligibility Criteria
For the purposes of this call for projects, only technically qualified NGOs are eligible. However, they must meet the following selection criteria:
- Be a structure already operational on the ground in the aforementioned areas, with good expertise in the areas of support for basic structures, the socio-economic reintegration of vulnerable people and people undergoing reconstruction, rehabilitation of community infrastructure (formulation, monitoring Works).
- Perform or have previously performed a field visit, in the case of infrastructure to be rehabilitated.
