Deadline: 01-Oct-2025
The Institute for Foreign Relations (IFA) is inviting applications for the zivik Funding Programme, which supports civil society actors around the world in preventing crises and resolving conflicts. The programme acknowledges the important role that non-governmental organisations (NGOs) play in complementing state efforts by offering new perspectives and addressing urgent priorities.
Funding is available for projects related to crisis prevention, conflict management, stabilisation, peacebuilding, and democracy-building. These projects must be implemented by NGOs working in crisis or conflict-affected regions. The primary focus areas include Sub-Saharan Africa, the Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) region, Southeastern Europe, Ukraine, Belarus, the South Caucasus, and initiatives led by the Unidas Women’s Network in Latin America and the Caribbean. Projects from other regions may also be considered in exceptional cases.
The programme emphasizes the role of young people in peace processes, guided by five key pillars: encouraging youth participation in political and social decision-making, protecting young people from violence and exploitation, preventing conflict through education and social integration, fostering partnerships with youth and civil society groups, and supporting reintegration of youth formerly involved in conflict or armed groups.
For new applicants who have not received funding before, the maximum grant available is €100,000. Applications must be for project-related expenses only, and the project must not start before the funding is approved. Applicants are expected to demonstrate efforts to use their own resources or secure third-party funding before applying.
Projects must be completed within the same calendar year they begin. For example, a project starting on 1 March 2025 should end by 31 December 2025. Additionally, funding will not be provided for the same project for more than three consecutive calendar years.
Eligible applicants include state-registered NGOs and local organisations carrying out projects in the specified regions. The projects should aim to strengthen local capacities in crisis prevention, stabilisation, and peacebuilding.
