The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) invites you to apply for the second edition of the EmPOWER Local Women Politicians Programme. If you are an elected woman leader working at the local level and/or woman activist involved in local policy and decision-making processes related to gender equality and women empowerment, and if you are looking to advance your career and most importantly, be an agent of change – this programme is for you.
The seven-month programme focuses on developing political leadership skills and is open to women holding an elected seat at the municipal assemblies Kosovo-wide and/or women activists involved in local policy and decision-making processes related to gender equality and women empowerment.All parts of the programme are based on equity, equality, participation, transparency and accountability, and the goal is to strengthen public and political participation and representation, primarily by empowering participants themselves, as well as building their capacities to get a higher involvement in decision-making processes and jointly advocate for a shared objective.
The aim of the programme is to:
- Enable the participants to improve their leadership skills;
- Help the participants to recognize, and fully utilize their transformative potential, and maximize their role as agents of change;
- Encourage and strengthen participants’ political initiative,participation and effectiveness of their engagement;
- Give participants access to a network of women politicians/activists Kosovo-wide.
Qualications
- They invite women municipal assembly members and/or women activists involved in local policy and decision-making processes related to gender equality and women empowerment to apply for this programme.
- Candidates should demonstrate interest and engagement in topics related to gender equality and women’s political participation. The selected participants must be able to commit to participate fully in the programme once per month, and those who successfully complete all scheduled parts will receive a certicate of completion of programme.
Selection Process
- Following the evaluation of all applications, the selection committee will select 15 candidates who meet the qualication criteria.
Structure and Topics
- The seven-month long programme consists of four compulsory workshop and training sessions, that will be tentatively held as follows:May, June/July,September,October and November (tentatively on the rst Saturday of the month from 10 AM – 15 PM,with the exception of a two day summer camp in June/July).The workshops will take place in Prishtinë/Priština,while the venue of the summer camp has to be determined and will be communicated to participants in due time.
- In addition, based on their needs, participants will be provided with a one-on-one online personal mentoring and coaching session with a relevant trainer.
- The workshops/training/coaching sessions will be delivered by an international consultant, while simultaneous interpreting will be provided when necessary. The EmPOWER participants will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge on issues related to women empowerment,including:
- Self-condence building;
- Political visual identity;
- Public speaking and debating;
- Time management;
- Partnership building and advocacy;
- Gender mainstreaming;
- How to turn commitments into actions.
