Deadline: 11-Aug-2025
Applications are now open for the Direct Aid Program (DAP), a small grants initiative funded by the Australian Government and managed by the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade (DFAT) through its overseas posts.
The program supports projects with a strong development focus that align with Australia’s broader aid efforts. DAP aims to contribute to sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction while promoting a positive image of Australia through community-level impact.
Priority will be given to projects that focus on gender equality, disability and youth inclusion, environmental sustainability including climate change and agriculture, and mental health and wellbeing.
Eligible proposals can request up to AUD 80,000 in funding, with project durations capped at two years. Only not-for-profit, legally registered community groups, local NGOs, academic institutions, or associations based in Sri Lanka are eligible to apply. Individuals are not eligible, and only organizations with shortlisted concept notes can submit full proposals.
The program does not fund cash grants, micro-credit schemes, commercial ventures, international travel, or the purchase of major assets like vehicles. Study tours, sponsorships without developmental benefits, and general overheads beyond 10% of project costs are also ineligible. However, project-related staff salaries and implementation costs are eligible within the budget guidelines.
