Deadline: 31-Oct-2025
The KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority is inviting students to apply for bursaries that will be awarded for the 2026 academic year.
The bursary programme offers aspiring students a valuable opportunity to pursue higher education in fields related to film, digital innovation, and tourism. By covering tuition fees, offering allowances, and supporting accommodation needs, the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority seeks to alleviate the financial burden that often prevents talented individuals from accessing education.
The initiative also highlights a strong commitment to inclusivity by prioritizing applications from previously disadvantaged individuals and people living with disabilities. In addition, the focus on specialized disciplines such as animation, heritage and cultural tourism studies, eco-tourism, hospitality management, and tourism management reflects the Authority’s dedication to building skills that align with the province’s growth sectors.
The bursary package covers full tuition at public universities, tuition at private institutions capped at government rates, a monthly allowance of R1500, and accommodation support for students living more than 50km away from their institution.
Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged individuals, people living with disabilities, and applicants in areas including animation, heritage and cultural tourism studies, eco-tourism, hospitality management, and tourism management. Postgraduate bursary funding will only be considered for animation studies. Applicants must be South African citizens and residents of KwaZulu-Natal who have secured acceptance into one of the qualifying study programmes.
Students are encouraged to prepare their applications ahead of the deadline to ensure they are considered for this comprehensive support package that not only invests in their academic future but also contributes to the development of KwaZulu-Natal’s creative and tourism industries. Closing date for applications 31 October 2025.
