Deadline: 29-Sep-2025
The Engagement Award Program is currently inviting Letters of Intent (LOIs) for its Convening Support funding opportunity. This initiative supports projects that organize meetings, conferences, or convenings involving patients, families, caregivers, and other members of the healthcare community. Projects must align with PCORI’s mission and aim to advance patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER).
PCORI is a key driver in making U.S. clinical research more patient centered, with a focus on generating practical and useful evidence. Its work addresses a wide range of health issues, including diabetes, obesity, cancer, maternal health, disabilities, mental health, and rare diseases. LOIs are welcomed on any topic relevant to patient-centered CER, provided they meet the program’s criteria.
Applicants must choose between two funding tracks when submitting an LOI. The first track, Convening Around Patient-Centered CER, supports discussions to identify research priorities or engagement strategies for future patient-centered CER. The second track, Convening Around Dissemination of PCORI-Funded Research Findings, focuses on sharing results from PCORI-funded studies with target audiences using convenings as the main method of dissemination.
Funding for each project may not exceed $125,000 in total costs, including both direct and indirect expenses. Projects may last up to two years. Deliverables may include prioritized research questions, strategic engagement plans, dissemination strategies, or research summaries.
Projects not eligible for funding include those without a clear focus on patient-centered CER or those that involve cost-effectiveness analysis, clinical intervention design, participant recruitment, or the creation of practice guidelines. Projects that involve direct lobbying, policy development, or the formation of new organizations are also ineligible.
Eligible applicants include both nonprofit and for-profit organizations. U.S.-based applicants must have a valid Federal Employer Identification Number. Individuals are not eligible to apply.
