Deadline: 06-Oct-2025
The National Disability Authority (NDA) has launched the Research Promotion Scheme (RPS) 2025–26, inviting proposals for research projects under the theme Disability in Marginalised Groups and Communities.
The focus is on Disability in Marginalised Groups and Communities, with a particular interest in disability issues within Traveller and/or Roma communities. The presence, identity and experience of disability intersect with race, gender, transnational location/migrant status, age, sexuality, ethnicity, religion and class/socio-economic status. Disability research with an intersectional lens can inform more equitable policy designs, highlight the need for disaggregated data, and build connections across different advocacy agendas.
Proposals are encouraged to address areas such as access to health and social support services, housing or education among disabled Traveller and Roma populations, disabled people living in Direct Provision, d/Deaf people and ethnicity, disabled people’s access to addiction services, and political participation and self-advocacy among people with intellectual disabilities.
The NDA welcomes a range of methodologies including quantitative, qualitative, mixed-method and innovative approaches, and requires that disabled people are actively involved in the research process. Deliverables include a publishable research report, a dissemination strategy in accessible formats, and a seminar on the findings.
Applications are invited from research institutions, independent researchers, academic departments, Disabled Persons Organisations (DPOs), advocacy groups, and service providers. Collaborative proposals are encouraged, and joint applications must clearly demonstrate the involvement of all partners and stakeholders.
The total funding envelope for this call is €80,000, with individual grants ranging from €15,000 to €40,000. Up to three grants are expected to be awarded. Successful applicants must complete their research and deliver a final draft report within 12–18 months of signing the grant agreement.
