Deadline: 31-Aug-2025
The UK government is inviting proposals for the Open Data Fund for Central America 2025-2026 to enhance transparency, civic engagement, and digital inclusion across the region.
The focus of this initiative is on digital inclusion and connectivity, gender equality, disability inclusion, climate resilience, governance and citizen participation.
This fund offers a total budget of USD 70,000 to support a regional implementing organisation to carry out the project between mid-September 2025 and the end of March 2026 across Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala and El Salvador. Organisations with regional experience are encouraged to submit proposals that strengthen citizen participation, transparency, and digital inclusion through open data. Proposals should empower civil society with tools and training to use public data in advocacy and oversight, foster regional collaboration to build a resilient open data ecosystem, promote inclusive participation of women, people with disabilities and marginalised communities, support evidence-based advocacy for public policy influence, and amplify impact through communication strategies.
Applicants should demonstrate the ability to conduct regional mapping and needs assessment, develop and deliver tailored capacity building and inclusive training across at least four countries, design an effective communication strategy to share results and promote open data, and provide a final report with recommendations for future collaborations.
Key dates include the call launch in mid-August 2025, submissions due by the end of August 2025, followed by pre-selection, due diligence, signing of agreements, project initiation, and implementation through to March 2026, with a final report expected by June 2026.
This is a compelling opportunity for organisations experienced in open data, civic technology, or digital rights to spearhead impactful work that enhances transparency, accountability and inclusive participation across Central America.
