Deadline: 31-Oct-2025
BK Foundation has announced a call for proposals aimed at enhancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Rwanda to promote inclusive, equitable quality education and decent work opportunities for all.
The focus of the call includes improving the quality and accessibility of vocational training, strengthening partnerships between TVET institutions and employers, promoting entrepreneurship and employability, and supporting lifelong learning and decent work for youth across Rwanda. The objectives of this initiative are to expand access to TVET for youth facing socio-economic barriers, integrate gender and disability inclusion, strengthen pathways to employment and entrepreneurship, and build institutional capacity for sustainable TVET delivery.
The grant aims to equip 200 youth facing socio-economic barriers with employable skills, internships, or entrepreneurship opportunities within one year. A total of Fifty Million Rwandan Francs (RWF 50,000,000) will be awarded for projects implemented over 12 months, with disbursements tied to milestones such as beneficiary selection, training progress, and toolkit distribution.
This opportunity recognizes TVET as a key driver of Rwanda’s socio-economic transformation as outlined in Vision 2050 and the National Strategy for Transformation. By equipping young people with market-relevant, practical skills, TVET supports employability, entrepreneurship, and innovation. While Rwanda has made significant progress through reforms such as the establishment of the Rwanda TVET Board and the adoption of Competency-Based Training, challenges such as limited infrastructure, inadequate equipment, weak alignment with labor market demands, and insufficient trainer capacity continue to hinder progress.
Eligible applicants include legally registered Rwandan NGOs, social enterprises, or accredited TVET schools with at least three years of experience in TVET delivery, youth empowerment, or scholarship management. Applicants must demonstrate adequate infrastructure, qualified trainers, and strong financial and program management systems.
