The GIZ project Digital Solutions for Sustainable Development (DSSD) in partnership with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation (MINICT) is launching an open call for organizations working with people with disabilities: Participate in the development of a streamlined curriculum and a train the trainer seminar for teaching people with disabilities in ICT skills.
Organizations, schools, ICT companies, and government institutions interested in training people with disabilities on digital literacy can apply to be part of this project. As a precondition, this exercise will focus on assessing the currently used curricula and capacitate organizations and trainers to be able to provide high-quality digital literacy training to people with disabilities.
Benefits

Roles and responsibilities of the Selected Organization
- Collaborate with the consultant to streamline the curriculum that will be used by all OPDs
- Provide at least 2 staff members or trainers (not necessarily being full time employees but any trainer that you onboard) to participate in a 3-week training for trainers about the streamlined curriculum. The training will be taking place in Kigali, and each organization will train 10 people with disabilities out of Kigali as a test-run.
- Train at least 50 people with disabilities outside of Kigali using the skills and experience gained from the training of trainers within 3 months after the training with the consultant
- Provides all needed reports on time as required by the project supervisor.
- The selected organizations engage in the project from 15/11/2022.
- 3-5 organizations that will get assistive technologies and be engaged in deep training about the use of those assistive technologies to support people with disabilities.
Process
To achieve those objectives, GIZ in partnership with MINICT will help 10 organizations which have experienced trainers already working with people with disabilities to expand their operations into digital literacy. They will be part in designing a streamlined and standardized curricula and participate in a train the trainer seminar. Furthermore, 3-5 organizations from those 10 will receive assistive technologies based on the criteria detailed below.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Follows can apply:
- Non-Profit Organizations.
- Social Enterprises.
- Civil Society Organizations.
- Government institutions.
- Schools and educational institutions who have been or are working with people with disabilities
- All selected 10 organizations are required to collaborate with the consultant to streamline the curriculum that will at the end be used by all organizations supporting people with disabilities. Furthermore, the selected organizations will also participate in the training in Kigali with the consultant about the streamlined curriculum.
- At the end of training, the selected organizations are expected to train at least 50 people with different types of disabilities such as physical, visual, hearing, learning, etc. outside of Kigali on digital literacy following the roadmap and curriculum developed by the consultant.
Selection Criteria
For the 10 organizations to participate in Training for Trainers:
- Main operations in Rwanda.
- Already have people with disabilities as main beneficiaries.
- Minimum of two own trainers with teaching/training experience in their organization.
- Trainers need to have conversational skills in English and Kinyarwanda.
