Are you a student or a young professional passionate about development and data? Do you care about poverty and inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC)? Then this blog contest is for you.
To help promote and showcase innovative and promising blogs LACfeaturegraph Blog Contest, the Poverty and Equity Global Practice will reward the best blog entry related to poverty, inequality, and/or shared prosperity that integrates information from the LAC Equity Lab by publishing it online in the series of LACfeaturegraph blogs. The winner will also have the opportunity to participate in a poverty event at the World Bank Group’s Headquarters in Washington D.C.

Entry Guidelines
- The blog post may not exceed 500 words. Longer entries will be disqualified.
- It must use information found in the LAC Equity Lab. Although the writer may use other sources as long as they are cited, the LAC Equity Lab must be the main source of information, in the sole discretion of the judges. (Links, attachments, bibliography, and urls do not count towards the 500 word limit.)
- The post must be written in English or in Spanish.
- The blog must include at least one but no more than two visualizations extracted from the LAC Equity Lab or you can create your own chart using LAC Equity Lab data (statistics, dashboards, policy briefs, poverty and inequality monitoring, technical notes).
- The topic can be about a specific country in the LAC region (countries are listed in the Application Form), a sub-region made up of several of the LAC countries, or about the entire Latin America and Caribbean region. The topic must be limited only to Latin American and Caribbean countries, although additional countries outside the region can be added for comparison purposes.
- The blog must include a recommendation for a plausible public policy intervention.
- The main selection criteria will be the quality of the analysis and the integration of the LAC Equity Lab’s information, rather than the quantity of topics addressed.
Eligibility Criteria
- This competition is open to students and young professionals.
- Current World Bank Group staff members, consultants, or retirees are not eligible to participate in the contest. Contractors (vendors) and their employees, persons or entities who are ineligible to receive World Bank funds under the World Bank’s Anti-Corruption Guidelines, Corporate Procurement Policy and Operational Procurement and Consultant Guidelines, and other applicable rules are ineligible to receive Prizes or Awards.
- Content from sources other than the participant must be clearly marked throughout the submission and properly cited.
- Participants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of submission of their entry.
- The World Bank Group reserves the right to research and verify eligibility of any entrants, and the decision of the World Bank Group shall be final.
Selection Criteria
Criteria for the selection of the best blog include:
- The capacity of the writer to integrate information procured from the LAC Equity Lab into his or her analysis of the chosen issue.
- The quality of the analysis and the relevance between the identification of the issue and the mechanism/proposal.
- The expression of ideas in a concise and specific manner.
- The decision of the Judges will be final, and not subject to challenge or appeal
