Deadline: 12-Nov-2025
The Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority is seeking applications for its BRICS STI Framework Programme to promote research, development and innovation in the main areas of cooperation among the institutions in the consortia which consist of partners from at least two of the BRICS countries.
This initiative focuses on building up new cooperatives for high-tech and innovation-driven institutions within BRICS, serving as a critical catalyst for economic development and improved quality of life by allocating funding for research and development carried out by initiatives addressing innovation.
The programme supports multinational collaborative projects with a duration of up to three years, involving participants from a minimum of two BRICS countries, focusing on technology maturation, development of a business model towards the innovation’s future commercialization, and market deployment.
The BRICS STI Framework Programme Member Organizations invite applicants from their countries to identify potential partners in other BRICS countries and jointly prepare proposals for collaborative R&D projects addressing innovation. Applicants are requested to submit project proposals built on validated in-lab or relevant environment technology, and all must fulfil their respective national eligibility rules for innovation grant applications.
Participating funding organizations plan to support collaborative activities while aligning with their national priorities and strategies. Conditions of support will vary by organization, with each funding organization funding its national institutions. Projects are expected to start in the second quarter of 2026.
Each participating funding organization will evaluate proposals where applicants from its own country request funding. A joint decision by all national funding organizations will determine which proposals are co-funded. Evaluation will consider technical content, excellence and relevance, go-to-market strategy and value proposition, credibility of financial forecasts, project management and methodological approach, time plan and deliverables, added value from international collaboration, appropriateness of resources and funding requested, and expected technological, economic, and societal impacts. Applicants will be notified of the final decision in the second quarter of 2026.
The Joint Application Form (JAF) must be completed in English, and in addition to the JAF, each national team must submit a national component to the relevant participating funding organization following its specific procedures. The JAF includes information on the title and acronym of the project, project duration, abstract, project team, and budget requested. The national component will vary depending on the requirements of each participating funding organization.
The deadline for applications is 12 November 2025.
