Deadline: 15-Sep-2025
Submissions are now open for the Heritage Research Grant, which encourages institutes of higher learning, think tanks, heritage NGOs, academics, and researchers to embark on heritage-related studies aimed at documenting and preserving Singapore’s heritage and its connections to the region.
The grant covers five core research areas: Singapore Pre-History and History, Intangible Cultural Heritage, Tangible Heritage, Communities and Heritage, and Comparative Studies of Singapore and Southeast Asia. Proposals must align with at least one of these areas to be eligible. In addition, there are seven priority research themes under the 2023 call that support the National Heritage Board’s SG Heritage Plan 2.0. These include maritime heritage, heritage and well-being, sustainability in built heritage, pedagogy and museum-based learning, heritage businesses, diversity and inclusion in heritage, and innovative technologies in heritage.
The funding cap is S$150,000 for projects lasting up to two years and S$75,000 for one-year projects. The grant covers manpower costs, expenses related to research and fieldwork, and indirect research costs charged by the applicant’s institution.
Applications are open to research teams led by a Principal Investigator with one or more Co-Investigators. The project and PI must be endorsed by a supporting institution, and funding will only be awarded to projects that have not yet started.
