Deadline: 30-Sep-2025
The ICGEB SMART Fellowships open an exciting gateway for early-career life sciences researchers to engage in international mobility and training.
Designed to boost hands-on experience and foster scientific cooperation, the program enables researchers to spend between three and nine months working in a laboratory at another ICGEB Member State.
Eligible applicants include nationals of ICGEB Member States who hold a master’s degree, are enrolled in a PhD program, or have completed their PhD within the past five years. It’s intended for scientists actively involved in research at an institution and places strong emphasis on collaboration, requiring coordination between home and host laboratories.
Selected fellows receive comprehensive support: a monthly stipend ranging from USD 800 to USD 1,500 depending on their location and seniority, coverage for economy-class round-trip travel, health insurance, and a monthly bench fee of up to USD 500 for the host lab to use on consumables related to the fellow’s research. Stay durations of up to nine months ensure meaningful research immersion and skill development.
Only one application per candidate per call is accepted, and applications without all confirmations by the deadline will not be considered.
By immersing researchers in advanced international lab environments, the SMART Fellowships cultivate scientific growth, empower global networks, and sharpen technical expertise. For emerging scientists in the life sciences, it’s a powerful opportunity to enhance both career trajectory and impact within the global research community.
