Deadline: 01-Aug-2025
National Grid’s Electricity Distribution business, in partnership with Localgiving, is offering grants to charitable organisations that support communities and hubs working to build resilience during the energy transition. The funding is part of the ongoing Community Matters Fund.
Grants can be used for energy-efficient projects that lower carbon footprints, reduce energy costs, and improve energy-efficiency ratings. These initiatives can take place in buildings like community centres or extend into the wider community.
The fund is focused on supporting economically disadvantaged areas and aims to assist grassroots organisations that serve underrepresented and marginalised groups.
Examples of eligible projects include improving energy efficiency in community buildings through insulation, glazing upgrades, smart thermostats, and LED lighting. Funding can also support education on sustainability and renewable energy, delivered by STEM professionals, as well as projects that promote sustainable transport such as active travel schemes and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Registered charities or non-profit companies limited by guarantee can apply for up to £5,000. Constituted charitable organisations without a charity number can apply for up to £2,000.
Eligible applicants must be based in and deliver their projects within the East Midlands, West Midlands, South West England, or South Wales.
