For health and wellness, the Foundation emphasizes disease prevention and access to clean, healthy environments. They are also committed to improving mental health by funding programs that provide mental health resources, support systems, and awareness initiatives.

When disasters strike, the Sompo Foundation is prepared to respond to catastrophic events, especially in regions connected to their operations. Their disaster response grants help rebuild and restore affected communities.

The Foundation is dedicated to building strong partnerships with nonprofit organizations that share its mission. It offers more than just funding—Sompo encourages employee involvement through volunteering, board participation, and a Matching Gift Program that supports employee-chosen charities.

Sompo Foundation grants are only available to nonprofit organizations with a strong track record and financial stability. Proposals must align with the Foundation’s mission, include a solid budget and justification, and demonstrate measurable impact and effective leadership.

Activities such as fundraising galas, athletic clubs, and individual donations are not eligible. The Foundation does not support political, lobbying, or religious activities and only considers projects within their geographic focus.

Eligible regions include Asia Pacific, Bermuda, Brazil, Europe, North America, and the United Kingdom. While the Foundation is registered in the U.S. as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, its support extends globally to initiatives that align with its values and geographic presence.

Organizations must be in good standing with their country’s regulatory bodies and free from reputational issues. A strict nondiscrimination policy applies to all funded projects.
