The Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is currently seeking applications for the Bursary Programme from individuals to undertake or participate in Irish Language or Sporting Programmes. To be eligible the individual must be resident in the Fermanagh & Omagh District Council area.
Program Detail
- Irish Language Bursary (Minors 1, 2 3, 4, Adult, Family)
- Fermanagh and Omagh District Council wants to support projects, activities, and groups that will actively contribute to enhancing the cultural life of the district.
- Through this grant scheme, they want to open up opportunities for people to experience the Irish language, culture, and heritage experiences.
- Irish Language Bursary (Academic)
- Fermanagh and Omagh District Council wants to support Irish Language learners in pursuing academic achievement in Irish.
- Applications must be made by adults aged 18+ who intend to enroll in an Irish Language diploma/degree at either undergraduate or postgraduate level.
- Applicants are advised to contact an officer to discuss their application prior to submission.
- Sports Bursary
- The Sports Bursary Grant Aid is to support and provide assistance to Sporting Individuals who have been selected to represent their sport at the International level. Individuals can avail of this funding to assist with:
- Tournament/Competition/Event Entry Fee
- Travel Costs
- Accommodation costs

Funding Information
- Irish Language Bursary (Minors 1, 2 3, 4, Adult, Family)
- Range Between £150 – £300 Irish Language Bursaries are subject to funding availability
- Irish Language Bursary (Academic)
- £500 Irish Language Bursary is subject to funding availability
- Sports Bursary
- £250 per individual (per financial year) Sports Bursary is subject to funding availability
Program Specific Criteria
- Irish Language Bursary (Minors 1, 2 3, 4, Adult, Family)
- All applications will be assessed on the contributions to and enhancements of the cultural life of Fermanagh and Omagh District under the following headings:
- Proof of significant benefit to the applicant(s)
- Development of linguistic skills of the applicant(s)
- Contribution to the cultural life of the FODC district
- All applications will be assessed on the contributions to and enhancements of the cultural life of Fermanagh and Omagh District under the following headings:
- Irish Language Bursary (Academic)
- Applications will be assessed against the following key priority of the Irish Language:
- Empower Irish Language speakers and communities
- Sports Bursary
- Applicants must;
- Be involved in an amateur capacity.
- Provide a letter from your Governing Body, confirming selection for International, duties. The Governing Body must be recognized by either Sport NI or Sport Ireland. This letter MUST be provided with the bursary application.
