This international prize is awarded every two years to recognize outstanding efforts aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning worldwide.
The prize highlights exceptional initiatives that have successfully strengthened teaching practices and advanced the overall quality of education. It celebrates impactful projects that promote excellence and innovation in education.
Three winning projects will be selected, with each laureate receiving a certificate and a monetary award of US$100,000.
Eligible nominators include governments of UNESCO Member States through their National Commissions, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) that are officially partnered with UNESCO. Each nominating body can submit up to five candidate projects. Self-nominations are not permitted.
Organizations eligible to apply must be actively working in the field of teaching and learning. This includes international or national organizations, government or non-governmental entities, and educational or research institutions. Projects led by individuals are not eligible for consideration.
